The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH - http://www.wfh.org) is an international not-for-profit organization that provides global leadership to improve and sustain care for people with inherited bleeding disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, rare factor deficiencies, and inherited platelet disorders. Established in 1963, the WFH works with member organizations in 140 countries as well as through a network of international volunteers and healthcare providers to achieve our vision of "Treatment For All" around the world.

WFH is currently seekingcurrently seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Manager, Humanitarian Aid Treatment Training & Development (NFP, world) /Gestion're, Formation médicale - Aide humanitaire, to be mainly responsible for its training on different categories of hemophilia treatment products donated to the WFH for humanitarian aid redistribution worldwide. Further assists the Director in strategic development and with overseeing all operational functions of the department.

SUMMARY -

Reporting to the Medical & Humanitarian Aid Director and working in close collaboration with the Logistics Manager and the HA Coordinator, the Manager, Humanitarian Aid Development & Training will be responsible for planning, organizing, delivering, and evaluating 8-10 regional or in-country training workshops that are associated with treatment products donated to the rapidly-expanding humanitarian aid efforts at the WFH.

He/She will implement the annual training workplan of the HA department which includes to monitor and assess needs; lead training workshop or other education programs; evaluate the impact for future needs assessment; monitor the effect of training on treatment outcome; identify and recommend revised or new training; develop content. The Manager's role will also include developing workshops budget and monitoring training expenses.

The Manager, Humanitarian Aid Development & Training will further assist the Director with strategic development and with overseeing all operational functions of the HA department.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES –

  • Develop in collaboration with the Director, WFH's annual humanitarian aid training strategy to initiate expand existing workshops and initiate new training to meet needs over time.

 

  • Develop, coordinate, execute, and evaluate training workshops on the utilization of and the reporting of different categories of hemophilia treatment products donated through the HA program.
  • Accountable for the financial management of the training workshops in collaboration with the HA Director: develop an annual budget for all HA annual training activities.
  • Monitor and record positive changes following training in recipient countries on the utilization and reporting of HA donations.
  • Build, nurture, and maintain relationships with key contacts throughout the global humanitarian aid supply chain
  • Identify and closely liaise with volunteers and speakers partaking in HA training workshops. Coordinate the functioning of the HA Committee and other steering committees (as required).

 

  • Assist the Director in overseeing overall operations of the Humanitarian Aid department, including training of WFH staff. Partake in all HA department regular meetings.
  • Perform visits to recipient countries to best understand and guide donated products use, and assess needs.
  • Participate as need be with delivery of donations of hemophilia treatment products to recipient countries.
  • Attend as necessary, certain international events, congresses or symposiums.
  • Prepare and lead various presentations related to HA efforts.

Perform other duties and assume all responsibilities consistent with the position & incumbent qualifications as assigned or requested by the Director, Medical & Humanitarian Aid.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS –

  • University degree in medicine, or a master in public health (MPH)
  • At least eight (8) years (minimum) of relevant work experience in non-profit international development organizations – health sector essential
  •  
  • Excellent understanding of international development programs: a global geographic perspective, with specific sensitivity to current & emerging healthcare issues
  • Demonstrable expertise in the development, management, monitoring and evaluation ("best practices") of training activities related to health and its development
  • Experience in or extensive knowledge of training on medicinal products hemophilia treatment productsan asset - and related reporting requirements
  • Proven successful experience in leading training programs in one or more emerging countries; adept at working with diverse cultures and countries
  •  
  • Experienced with financial planning and budget management
  • Excellent project manager, with superior organization skills and analytical & problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership & team work capabilities; builds effective collaboration with others
  •  
  • Superior communication skills (oral and written); adept at public speaking & presentation development (power point - essential)
  • Excellent English, primary language of work (written and spoken); working knowledge of French, Spanish preferred; other international language(s) – an asset
  •  
  • High computer literacy, with extensive experience with Windows MS Office; also excel, access, or project; outlook / internet
  • Willingness and flexibility to undertake regular travel within all WFH world regions & at key international gatherings (30-40% travel time)
  •  
  • Legally entitled to live & work in Quebec, Canada

Salary will be commensurate with background and experience.
