Your Opportunity: The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is one of two Tertiary Trauma Centers in the City of Edmonton and one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Canada. Centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province’s most vulnerable and marginalized population. The RAH Emergency department cares for patients with major trauma, cardiac events, injuries, and general medical problems. The Emergency Department at RAH is a highly acute and challenging setting for nursing practice. Our patients encompass a diverse socio-economic spectrum and multi-cultural backgrounds. We are looking for experienced, passion-driven Registered Nurses that have experience working with similar populations. Due to the diverse nature of patients seen, nurses use a wide variety of clinical skills including critical thinking. The successful candidate will administer safe and effective nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications: Demonstrated excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills required along with the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating priorities and workloads. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience within the last two years. Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certified Emergency Nurse (C.N.A.). Acute/Critical Care experience, within the last two years. Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience in a tertiary care facility Emergency Department.

Provide safe and effective nursing care to a diverse patient population in a high-acuity emergency department setting. Utilize nursing processes to teach, counsel, and advocate for patients while supporting a holistic approach to health promotion.

Requires completion of an accredited nursing program, a valid CRNA practice permit, and BCLS-HCP certification. Candidates must demonstrate strong assessment skills and the ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads.
