Your Opportunity: The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is one of two Tertiary Trauma Centers in the City of Edmonton and one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Canada. Centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province’s most vulnerable and marginalized population. The RAH Emergency department cares for patients with major trauma, cardiac events, injuries, and general medical problems. Our staff are dedicated to improving patient and provider experience through The Royal Alex Way. We are motivated and strive towards excellence; embracing our inner city pride. The Emergency Department at RAH is a highly acute and challenging setting for nursing practice. Our patients encompass a diverse socio-economic spectrum and multi-cultural backgrounds. We are looking for experienced, passion-driven Registered Nurses that have experience working with similar populations. Due to the diverse nature of patients seen, nurses use a wide variety of clinical skills including critical thinking. The successful candidate will administer safe and effective nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable. Classification: Registered Nurse Union: United Nurses of Alberta Unit and Program: Emergency Primary Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: At (UNA only) FTE: 0.80 Posting End Date: 31-AUG-2026 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 09-NOV-2026 Hours per Shift: 11.08 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 32 Shift Pattern: Days, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $44.56 Maximum Salary: $60.98 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications: Demonstrated excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills required along with the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating priorities and workloads. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience within the last two years. Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certified Emergency Nurse (C.N.A.). Acute/Critical Care experience, within the last two years. Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience in a tertiary care facility Emergency Department.
