Company Description Freedom Support Services Inc. is a temporary staffing agency that has specialized in placing qualified support staff in the Social Service and Health Care sectors across the Greater Toronto Area since 2001. The organization is committed to prompt, respectful service and high-quality care for clients and the individuals they support. Freedom Support Services Inc. partners with a wide range of settings, including independent living organizations, group homes, and residential support services. The agency also works with day programs, retirement homes, shelters, long-term care homes, assisted living/supportive homes, and camps, offering diverse opportunities for support workers. Role Description The Personal Support Worker role is a part-time, on-site position based in Stouffville, ON. In this role, the worker provides direct personal care and daily living support to individuals in residential and community settings, such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or similar environments. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with mobility, hygiene, meals, and medication reminders, while promoting independence and dignity. The worker also supports social and recreational activities, follows individualized care plans, and observes and reports changes in physical or emotional well-being to appropriate supervisors. The role involves working collaboratively with other support staff, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, and adhering to agency policies and safeguarding procedures. Qualifications Experience as a Support Worker or Personal Support Worker in social service, residential, or health care settings. Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build trust, provide person-centered care, and collaborate with diverse teams. Knowledge of Safeguarding practices, including maintaining confidentiality, recognizing risks, and following safety and incident-reporting protocols. Ability to use Technical Support tools relevant to the role, such as electronic care documentation systems, basic computer applications, and communication devices. Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent training is preferred. Current CPR/First Aid certification and a clear, current vulnerable sector police check. Reliability, flexibility to work varied shifts, and the ability to assist with physical tasks such as transferring and mobility support.
