About the role

Position Summary

Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) Health Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join the interdisciplinary team at the Six Feathers Clinic in Thunder Bay. The Clinical Nurse will play a key role in delivering comprehensive, culturally appropriate primary care services to members of KO communities.

Working within a multidisciplinary team that includes Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, Physiotherapists, and Social Workers, the Clinical Nurse will provide direct patient care with a strong focus on wound care, diabetic management, foot care, and phlebotomy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care to patients, including assessment, treatment, and follow-up
  • Deliver specialized wound care and foot care services, including prevention and management of complications
  • Support diabetes management through patient education, monitoring, and coordination of care plans
  • Perform phlebotomy and manage specimen collection in accordance with best practices
  • Assist in chronic disease management and health promotion initiatives
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic, patient-centered care
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinic program development
  • Promote culturally safe and respectful care for First Nations clients
  • Adhere to all professional, organizational, and regulatory standards

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) preferred
  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with significant relevant experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Wound care and foot care
    • Diabetes management
    • Phlebotomy
  • Experience working in a primary care or community health setting is an asset
  • Knowledge of Indigenous health issues and experience working with First Nations communities is an asset
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Working Conditions

  • Clinic-based environment in Thunder Bay
  • Interaction with diverse patient populations, including vulnerable individuals
  • Occasional flexibility in scheduling may be required
