This includes operating ambulances in responding to emergencies and routine calls; conducting physical examinations; performing comprehensive assessments and tests; interpreting a variety of tests and procedures; initiating a variety of advanced interventions; and performing other related duties as required. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through observation, examination of records and reports, and the presence or absence of valid complaints. The Advanced Care Paramedic will report directly to the Manager of Emergency Services. The base for this service is located at Labrador West Health Centre. Qualifications:Graduation from an approved Advanced Care Paramedic program accredited by the Canadian Medical Association;Current registration with the NL Paramedicine Regulation and Office of the Provincial Medical Director as an ACP;Possession of a valid Class 4 Driver's License as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador;Current BLS and ACLS certification;Current certification in PALS, or willingness to complete;40 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME);Effective oral and written communication skills;Critical and sound decision making skills;Confidence to manage a variety of situations;Computer skills;Ability to perform various medical procedures and operate a variety of medical equipment;Must be able to report to work within in a reasonable timeframe;The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct. Duties: (Included but not limited to)Performs comprehensive assessments, physical examinations, advanced treatments, triage, and interventions for all pre-hospital medical and traumatic conditions for a diverse group of patients;Applies advanced treatment therapies and interventions for medical disorders and traumatic injuries, in accordance with protocols;Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team within healthcare facility units, such as emergency and critical care areas;Completes patient treatment charting, records all pertinent patient information to include vitals, neurological signs, assessment findings and treatment provided.
