About the role
Department: Mental Health & Addictions
Reporting to the Manager of the Acute Mental Health Portfolio, the Coordinator will have supervisory responsibilities with respect to the delivery of patient services, both in hospital and community and system leadership for the overall coordination of Programs within the Mental Health and Addictions Portfolio.
Further responsibilities of the Coordinator include but are not limited to:
- providing leadership to create and maintain practice environments that support a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement in partnership with staff, patients and families
- ensuring clinical competence, and the application and integration of professional standards, best practices and evidence based practices
- supporting patient admissions and transitions, ensuring integrated care pathways
- providing leadership to Mental Health Programs through active collaboration and inter-professional partnerships with internal and external partners
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Health, Social Science, or Health Administration or equivalent education and experience required
- Current registration with a regulated College an asset
- Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate an asset
- Current demonstrated leadership experience, skills and ability to work with teams of varied disciplines
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working in Acute Mental Health and Addictions required
- Must be able to function both independently and as an active member of the multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a team member through collaboration, respectful and effective communication while interacting with other members of the inter-professional care teams, patients, family members and community team members
- Computer application experience required
- Experience in policy and procedure development an asset
- The successful candidate must work with the respective functional teams to support quality improvement initiatives under the philosophy of More Time to Care and in alignment with the Strategic Plan
- Demonstrated ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events and promotion of quality in our organization
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
