Department: Assertive Community Treatment Team Services

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma required
  • College Diploma in Social Services is an asset
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
  • Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate an asset
  • Lived experience with a mental health challenge or illness (either personally or in relation to a family member or loved one) accompanied by the experience of finding a path of recovery is required
  • Basic computer knowledge required

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to apply the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation; living, learning, working and socializing required
  • Familiar with basic psychiatric terms required
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting required
  • Relate to both consumer/survivors from a peer perspective and as a member of the health care team required
  • Demonstrate respect for the consumer rights and personal preferences in treatments
  • Mentoring within the Recovery process including role modelling required
  • Demonstrated enhanced advocacy skills and a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person living with serious mental illness required
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
  • Valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and current Ministry of Transportation Driver's Abstract required
  • Good attendance and work record is required
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
