In addition to a competitive rate of pay, EHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over. Description: As an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), you will assess emergency scenes and patients and may transport ill or injured individuals from emergency scenes and between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation. You will provide patient care by administering medications, using advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts, and delivering electrical therapy. You may also lead the ALS team in providing clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. You will support the readiness of vehicles by ensuring ambulances and other transport units, including non-emergent transport (NET) vehicles, are properly stocked, maintained, and equipped in accordance with established standards. The working environment for an ACP is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, moving traffic, and industrial and agricultural equipment. You will be required to travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations (e.g., backcountry), with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids. This role is also physically demanding. You must be able to endure frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105 lbs while transporting and transferring patients, supplies, and equipment. You must be able to endure frequent, simultaneous kneeling and trunk flexion for extended periods. Additionally, you must stand and sit for extended periods, as well as bend, twist, side-carry up to 20 lbs in each hand, and assume awkward positions. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) CPR certification. Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence (or equivalent), along with a five (5)-year driver abstract dated within six (6) months prior to commencing work, with no more than six (6) demerits. Preferred Qualifications: Preference is given to those with previous EMS experience in a metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility environment and in other areas of Health Care and Public Safety. Completion of additional post-secondary programs is considered an asset. As an Advanced Care Paramedic, you will assess emergency scenes and patients, transport ill or injured individuals, and provide advanced patient care. You will also ensure the readiness of vehicles and support the ALS team during patient transport.

Candidates must have non-restricted registration as an Advanced Care Paramedic with the Alberta College of Paramedics and current BCLS CPR certification. A valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence and successful completion of the F.A.R.E. test are also required.
