About the role

Department: Stroke Prevention Clinic/IP Rehab - Composite

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
  • Demonstrated medical clinical experience in an acute care and rehabilitation setting required
  • Experience in providing care to TIA/Stroke patients an asset
  • Medication administration required
  • Experience with enteral feeding, tracheostomy care; CADD Pump and wound care an asset
  • Stroke Nursing Certification required or successful completion within 60 days of hire required

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent level of interpersonal skills required
  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals and groups required
  • Ability to work as a collaborative member of the health team required
  • Ability to assume responsibility for patient care in a total patient care climate required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision required
  • Ability to meet the physical demands required to provide nursing care to acute/rehab patients required
  • Basic computer knowledge is an asset
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
