Team Physiotherapist, Huskie Athletics

Huskie Athletics is seeking a Physiotherapist to support and enhance the performance of our student-athletes and clients. Opportunity for invaluable mentorship and sport physiotherapy experience in a high-performance setting.

Primary Purpose: Provide high-quality, sport focused physiotherapy expertise to Huskie student athletes and community athletes. Participate in mentorship opportunities for relevant credentialling examinations.

Nature of Work: Reports to the Huskie Health Head Therapist. This position collaborates with Huskie coaches, administration, and other sports medicine and science providers. The therapist is required to work under pressure, in a high volume and dynamic environment within an alternative work plan including evening and weekend work. The intent of this position is to provide exposure and experience to sport physiotherapy.

Accountabilities:

• Provide evidence supported sport physiotherapy care to varsity athletes and clients including but not limited to: best practice pre-season clearance to participate, emergency on field care, accurate and timely assessment, rehabilitation, post-operative care, return to sport progressions and injury prevention;
• Work under the supervision of the head physiotherapist with members of the Huskie Health Care Coalition collaborating in the care and management of athlete injuries to support quick diagnosis and timely and safe return to sport;
• Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary Huskie Integrated Support Team (IST) to deliver coordinated and holistic care for team assignments;
• Delivers physiotherapy services to clients as a part of the fee for service program. Meets or exceeds all revenue targets.
• Effectively communicate with student-athletes allowing them to confidently make informed decisions about their plan of care, see the value services offered and maintain engagement with their rehabilitation;
• Ensure Huskie Health privacy policies and procedures adhere to professional practice guidelines and university policies including charting standards.
• Facilitates clear communication with student-athletes to empower informed decision-making regarding their care plans, highlight the value of available services, and foster consistent engagement throughout the rehabilitation process
• Adheres to privacy policies and procedures including charting standards and professional practice guidelines
• Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment
• Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Demonstrates respect and dignity for all members of the community, actively contributes to an environment of acceptance and inclusion of others, and responds to different perspectives from a place of curiosity, respect, and non-judgement
• Participate in mentorship opportunities for relevant credentialling examinations.
• Undertakes related duties, as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position.

Qualifications

Education: Master of Physical Therapy or Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Therapy.
Licenses: Eligible for licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists; valid First Aid and CPR.
Preferred Experience:

• Experience with sideline coverage
• Experience working with high performance athletes
• Experience with Interdisciplinary Support Team collaboration or leadership
• First Responder Certification
• Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA)
• Dry needling and/or acupuncture certification(s)
• Commitment to professional development

Skills: The ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced clinical setting. Strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills required. Knowledge and proficiency in Electronic Medical Records.
