Position Summary

Community based urologist is required to provide a high-quality efficient service with access to elective and emergency operating room, cystoscopy and ambulatory clinic resources at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). Regional call is in collaboration with the Urologists from Georgian Bay General Hospital and Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare.

Primary Responsibilities:

In-Patient:

  • Consultation to other credentialed staff.

  • Post-operative management.

  • Participation and cooperation as a contributing team member.

Out-Patient:

  • Provision of out-patient consultations.

  • Provision of ambulatory urology

Remuneration:

  • Fee-for-service OHIP billings
  • HOCC (Hospital On Call Coverage) stipend

Qualifications

  • FRCSC certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Urology

  • Licensure or eligibility to practice in the province of Ontario (CPSO)

  • Membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association in good standing

  • Proficiency in laparoscopic surgery and familiarity with management of genitourinary cancers would be preferred. Although not required, a fellowship in these areas would be an asset. Applicants will be required to demonstrate experience working with teams and possess strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • Applicant must be eligible for appointment to the Credentialed Staff at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

  • Function effectively as a consultant, integrating all of the CanMEDS roles to provide optimal, ethical and patient-centred medical care,

  • Establish and maintain clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to your practice,

  • Perform complete and appropriate assessments of patients,

  • Use preventive and therapeutic interventions effectively,

  • Demonstrate proficient and appropriate use of procedural skills, both diagnostic and therapeutic,

  • Seek appropriate consultation from other health professionals, recognizing the limits of their expertise.
