The WFH is seeking a knowledgeable, highly motivated Specialist with demonstrable recent experience in outreach and/or diagnosis of patients – preferably in the developing world. The Outreach/Diagnosis Specialist will be responsible for determining the key barriers to patient identification and accurate diagnosis.

After initially understanding and evaluating all current WFH programs in these fields, the Specialist will form a multi stakeholder task force that will publish a state-of-the-art report on how persons with inherited bleeding disorders can be identified and properly diagnosed in the next decade.

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate is a team player, capable of working collaboratively &@JW_STRONG_BEGIN@# effectively across the WFH organization (staff, volunteer base, other stakeholders).

The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH - http://www.wfh.org) is an international not-for-profit organization that provides global leadership to improve and sustain care for people with inherited bleeding disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, rare factor deficiencies, and inherited platelet disorders. Established in 1963, the WFH works with member organizations in 147 countries as well as through a network of international volunteers and healthcare providers, to achieve our vision of "Treatment For All" around the world.



  • Evaluate WFH existing programs offered cross-organizationally to identify their scope, effectiveness, overlap, gaps, and areas for improvement, in consultation with WFH staff.
  • Set up & lead a multi-stakeholder task force that will evaluate main barriers to patient identification and accurate diagnosis; task force to also identify various approaches that could be used to accelerate the identification & diagnosis of persons with inherited bleeding disorders.
  • Publish the recommendations in a recognized hemophilia journal
  • With the support of the task force, generate, evaluate, and prioritize new ideas that could be implemented by the WFH or by a new multi stake alliance - ex., include supporting a new Point of Care device, strengthening WFH  regional diagnostic hubs (worldwide), focused awareness-raising campaigns, other.

Carry out any other task relevant to the position as required by the CEO.



  • University degree (preferably Master level) in public health, life/health sciences, laboratory field, communications, and/or related sectors
  • Six to nine (6-9) years minimum of relevant work experience in international development and/or healthcare community
  • Minimum five (5) years proven experience working in related fields – EX., diagnosis labs, preferably in an emerging market; or recent leadership of an awareness campaign related to public health
  • Experience in project management, coordination; also leadership of volunteer task forces
  • Experience working with a global audience; ability to work and communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment
  • Collaborative with others, works well with staff teams, international volunteers, external stakeholders
  • Able to communicate orally in English, read, and produce documents in same (essential to daily WFH international work); working knowledge of French, Spanish, and/or other international language(s) - asset
  • High computer proficiency, with excellent  knowledge of Microsoft Word for text design, Survey Monkey for data collection and analysis; Excel,  PowerPoint
  • Availability & flexibility to undertake occasional international travel if needed (post Covid-19 restrictions)

Compensation will be commensurate with background and experience.
